The Arturo Sandoval Institute: Intergenerational Music Program
Music is a bridge – a powerful connection across generations, cultures, and communities. At the Arturo Sandoval Institute, our Intergenerational Music Program is a dynamic initiative designed to bring people of all ages together through the universal language of music.
Our program pairs seasoned mentors – many of whom are professional musicians, educators, or community leaders with younger participants eager to cultivate a deeper appreciation and joy of music, long after the music stops.
Intergenerational music programs have a proven track record worldwide for fostering empathy, reducing social isolation, and promoting lifelong learning. Similar programs in Europe – such as German’s “Generations in Harmony” and in Japan, “Grandparent-Grandchild Orchestra” have not only enriched family relationships, but have also revitalized local communities by celebrating cultural traditions though music.
Our Intergenerational Music Program is more than a series of classes or performances, it’s a movement to celebrate the power of music as a unifier. Together, we are creating a symphony of connection, understanding, and shared joy that transcends generations.
